The Rochester TechAge Learning Center has a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers, doing a wide range of activities.
This page is dedicated to you, our volunteers, who help others enjoy computer learning.

In addition to occasional events, volunteers enjoy other benefits.  Call 585-421-2000 x463 to learn more about enjoying volunteering with us, while honing your computer skills.  Alternately, you can click here to download a volunteer application, in PDF format.  We need you!

Volunteers Receive Two Excellent Benefits - Call for Details

1. FREE CLASSES: Active volunteers may take two free classes per calendar year. A maximum of one volunteer spot per class will be available unless a class is designated as “OPEN”. In this case, more than one volunteer may take a given class. Volunteers will be notified by e-mail if classes are “OPENED”.

Free classes are available on a first come, first served basis together with all other registrants. A completed registration form must be submitted to the TechAge Learning Center.

2.  ANYTIME COURSE DISCOUNT: Active volunteers can register for a TechAge class at a discounted rate of $10 less than the published class fee.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis together with all the other registrants. A completed registration form with payment needs to be submitted to the TechAge Learning Center. There is no maximum number of volunteers per class at this rate and no maximum number of classes one can take.

Hundreds and hundreds of our students have trusted our skilled volunteers to help simplify using the computer.  Once you look at the Rochester TechAge volunteers, below, you'll see why.  We invite you to join us in helping others master the computer, and have an enriched life.  Just contact us for more information.  You need not be a computer expert for many volunteer positions.

TechAge Volunteer Appreciation Dinner May 2011

On May 24, 2011 TechAge Volunteers and guests enjoyed a complimentary evening of recognition, terrific dining, and riveting games. Volunteers were thanked for their hundreds of hours assisting others in mastering technology.  Prizes were awarded to lucky drawing winners. Plus, all were able to better know other volunteers they work with. Volunteering is fun at TechAge. Click photos below to see some creativity, and happy diners.  Thanks to Joel Elias for the professional photos!

Rochester TechAge 10th Anniversary Celebration

Volunteer Recognition Held on June 11, 2009

See photos below.

Our Rochester TechAge Volunteer Appreciation Event was held on June 11, 2009. It featured a fabulous wine tasting of five wines from around the world. Andrea Bornheim from the Rochester Wine School was our "wine educator". Souvenir wines glasses made by MasterCraft of Fairport, NY and imprinted with the our logo were used for the wine tasting. Raffle prizes were handed out to TechAge volunteers including several gifts from our sponsor, JCC, and a widescreen computer monitor donated by Microworx.

A scrumptious buffet dinner was provided by Geulah featuring her famous cabbage rolls and luscious desserts.

Elaborate decorations adorned the room and the individual tables which provided a very festive atmosphere.

A special "thanks" to the event committee: Helen Newman, Sharon Iranpour, Kaci Peer & Joel Elias.   They all did numerous tasks before, during and after the event!!

June Glaser also helped with the wine pouring.  Pete Requa and Mary Carlson helped to serve the snacks paired with the wines.  Horace Becker and Jim Lane greeted everyone and handed out the name badges and raffle tickets.  Dave Pieramico, Barb Conklin and Tammy Cohen represented the JCC at the event.

A good time was had by all!

Thanks to photographer Jerry Kalnitz for photos of volunteers enjoying fine wine, dining, and companionship.
