Class
prices start at $70 for 10 classes. You will receive personalized instruction by
other adults that are both helpful, and computer experts. This is a
rare combination!

"Ask the Pro's"
computer clinic will have sessions each Wednesday from 12P until
2P
The clinic is really a free technical clinic for students who have
taken a course in the past year. Bring in your ailing computer (just
the main processor, not the monitor/printer). Or just come in to
talk over technical topics with our knowledgeable personnel. Our
pros solve most problems while you wait.

Introduction to Computers
Learn the skills needed to get comfortable with a computer.
Understand the tools and your way around a computer. By the
end of this class, you’ll be “surfing the Internet”, sharing
e-mail and using word processing and spreadsheet
applications. For Windows 7/Vista users. Introduction to
Computers II
Ready to take the next step or need a refresher? Build on
the basic skills taught in “Introduction to Computers” to
help you get even more comfortable with your computer and
take better advantage of the tools it offers you. Learn more
about Windows features, working with programs and files,
personalizing your computer and using Internet and e-mail
tools. For Windows 7/Vista users. File Management Ever
lost a file on your computer or couldn’t find a file that
you know you had saved? This 4-lesson course will show you
how to save and organize files and folders on your computer
so that you can find them when you need them. You’ll learn
to create a workable, efficient file system, save files into
folders, move files, protect your files and more. Using
Microsoft Word2007/2010
is an eight-class course based upon Microsoft Word 2007
program. Students will learn how to open a document and
type a letter using advanced techniques. You'll learn
how to do mass mailings, and more. Microsoft Office: At
home or at work, Microsoft Office gives you the tools you
need to do everyday tasks quickly and efficiently. You will
learn the most essential features of Microsoft Word, Excel
and PowerPoint to create professional looking documents,
track finances, build budgets, create interesting
presentations and more. Take Control of Windows is an
eight-session course. Learn the major parts of Windows 7 and
Vista. Learn to use new features along with how to organize
files into folders, find files on your computer; customize
the Start Menu, Desktop and Taskbar; add/remove programs and
update Windows. Introduction to Digital
Photography This
eight-session course introduces you to digital photography
and the many wonderful things you can do with digital
photographs. Digital cameras are provided for use in class
or you bring your own. Digital Photo Editing - Digital photographers - this course is an
introduction to the basic features and functions of this
sophisticated image-editing software. The course covers the
software Downloader and Organizer features, the Toolbox's
basic editing tools plus the "Quick Fix", "Guided Edit" and
Full Edit functions Using Microsoft
Excel 2007/2010 Learn how a spreadsheet can make it easy to
create and maintain a budget, monitor investments, checking
account activity, or create a club treasurers report. You
will also learn how to build and edit worksheets and create
formulas which automatically update your numbers.

here.Internet and Email is an
eight-class course with emphasis on e-mail and the web.
Communicate with friends and family around the world with
e-mail and access the wealth of useful information available
on the World-Wide-Web. Digital
Photo Projects - Use your own
photos to create projects, restore damaged photos, and edit
problem photos. Google:
If it's out there on
the Internet, you'll be able to find it after taking our
Google course. Amazing! This is a four session
course. Enjoy More of the
Web Your computer is your window on the world, open it
wide! Explore interesting topics, activities and projects to
print at home in this 4-lesson course. We’ll be using Google
for more than searching, discover missing money you might
have overlooked, and create greeting cards to print at home.
Who are
we? We are a group of dedicated volunteers
interested in passing on our computer skills to senior
citizens 45
years old and older. There are many perks in volunteering,
including meeting great people. You do not need to be a computer whiz to volunteer.

Where are
classes held?
Classes are held in the TechAge
Learning Center located at the
Jewish Community
Center of Greater Rochester, 1200 Edgewood Avenue in
Rochester. Directions. The
classroom has ten high-performance computers, with the
bright and clear new LCD displays. There is one
computer for each
student. Our computers use both the
Windows 7 or
Windows 8 operating
system, depending on the course. We do not teach the Macintosh computer.
However, sign up for our
newsletter and learn about special iPad classes.
Look for the sign on Edgewood for the JCC.
There's ample parking for students close to the classroom.
TechAge is a program of the JCC of Greater Rochester which also offers a restaurant, fitness center and other facilities.
When are classes
scheduled? Each course normally meets for two hours,
once per week, in the morning, afternoon or evening. For the
day-by-day schedule of activities at the Learning Center see
the course schedules.
How much do
classes cost? Class prices range from $40 to $75.
No other membership is required to take
classes.
